January 17, 2014There is mounting evidence that smartphone use at night makes us less productive the next day. If we’re always “on,” we get less sleep, and when we get less sleep, we’re less productive. It’s simple. It’s common sense. Yet, we still reach for our smartphones after dark, and try to cram more work in. That’s why managers should take it upon themselves to set restrictions for their teams. This is one of the only ways to set new norms in the workplace. And we’ll all be better for it: the more disengaged we are at night, the more engaged we’ll be during regular working hours.
